A lot of people cancelled their flood insurance before hit by Hurricane Harvey. This could be a monumental problem... on top of everything else...

The real problem here in Houston, is that some of the areas that flooded were not even eligible for flood insurance. After the last flood, people inquired and the insurance companies said that they aren't in a flood plain, so nothing available. Our governor mentioned today that he is looking into a way to help those people. I drove around today, 1st day of sunshine, and I couldn't fathom how much water there is around here... something like Lake Michigan being dumped on us....

If they weren't eligible for flood insurance then they should be covered under catastrophic damages from the weather...I would hope...however, insurance companies would do whats right.
