The most troubling concern in the Mideast summed up with this, "Bottom line: The U.S. goal of crushing the ISIS caliphate is almost attained. But if our victory in the war against ISIS leaves Iran in the catbird seat in Baghdad and Damascus, and its corridor from Tehran to Baghdad, Damascus and Beirut secure, is that really a victory? ... Do we accept that outcome, pack up and go home? Or do we leave our forces in Syria and Iraq and defy any demand from Assad to vacate his country? .... Would President Trump be willing to fight a new war to keep Iran from consolidating its position in Iraq and Syria?"
As we enter into a new period post ISIS, these are questions we all should ask and watch for as events unfold. I am not buying the idea that Israel sees as a "strategic failure" that Syria is still under Assuage and that Iran now has a "land corridor" to Damascus. But I do agree that we should have done something to acknowledge the Kurds desires for a nation state. I see our not supporting the Kurds and enabling the Iraqi army to push them out Kirkuk and loosing its oil, as a big strategic mistake.

When the idiots in the District of Calamity threw away our victory in Vietnam, we let it lie. When they threw away our victory in Iraq we went back. So, yeah, it looks like these wars will go on forever unless we either stop throwing away victories or just let the idiots have their way.

We as a nation, Jack, do not have a long range strategic plan and not the temperament to think strategically beyond maybe the next election cycle. That is the critical weakness of our country and dooms us to a reactive foreign and military policy making.

I don't believe we have won the war with ISIS. It is metastasizing. Look at the Philippines and what is happening in Africa. Different landscape, same enemy. Lots of work left to be done.

we can be idiots like President Obama and focus on global warming oh yeah that's right global warming isn't happening so you have to relabel it to climate change in order to cover your ass is more important than anything else in this world we have with wahabi Sunni Islam that is fostering wars all over the world but no according to President it's will be global warming oops I forgot climate change is more important LOL. The Earth is warming but it is junk science it is always been warming but only Democrats and green PCS both and liberals of Europe want to use that excuse to raise the price of fuel and focus on that went instead of focusing on making fuel economical and not blaming man for climate change. The Earth's been warming since before the Industrial Revolution but try to convince Democrats and Greenpeace fanatics? Forget it. We are in field long War. And it's not part of the military industrial complex.

I am a conservationist as well as a conservative. The concept of being a good steward is a solid principle for both "climate concerns" as well and projecting/maintaining a strong national defensive posture. What I want us to focus on is the "Tar Baby" called the Mideast and the fact everyone are stuck to it. Retail rules apply here gents...you brake it you buy it. AND we have bought into the Mideast with all its complexity and difficult relationships and historical rivalries. We are dealing with the false ideologies of Radical Islam and not so settled "settled science. Both ideologies have metastasized into cults. To defeat or neutralized both we have to debunk them and marginalize their followers.

LTC Thomas Tennant - but it is like Jane Fonda want us to still be addicted to the Russian and Middle East are babies so they can stay loyal to us even though we have enough oil for ourselves so they influence through Greenpeace native communities to say no to all these Pipelines so we end up putting oil on rail which often causes train derailments even more hazardous material spills. We have Jane Fonda was hypocrite because the dirty oil from Southern California is being pumped without question but the dirty oil in Canada is being frowned upon. Developing these oil pipelines north south can add half a million barrels a day of oil from a democracy not from a theocracy that exports radical Islam
