It's all about human interaction. Humans are hard wired to interact with each other. Even though the makers of AI are trying desperately to make computer interaction like human interaction (and may somewhat succeed), the relationships that matter are with other people.

The real problem with increase in teenage depression and anxiety, people talking to them about it. Teen years are rough and very few of us went through them with such fun we would want to do those years twice. I never considered depression, anxiety, or stress as a teen as I simply did not know the terms. We were poor and mental health was not on the affordable care plans... You made do with what you had and you grew past it. Does social media contribute, absolutely as you can be harrassed 24/7 but as parents you can take the phone away. I do often with my eldest (14) to keep a healthy balance and my only concern with depression with him is if and when he breaks up with his GF, a problem that has been around for generations.
