I fully understand why they are making this policy and I agree with it. Arlington is a special and powerful place. I was there a few months ago for the first time since 2001 and I cannot start to put into the words the feelings I had as I approached Section 60. To have Fido barking while people are there to say their final goodbyes or to remember their battle buddy, brother, sister, father, mother, just goes against everything those 600+ acres stand for.

SGT Ben Keen nailed it. When I went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, I can't even really explain the way it made me feel. I have seen videos of the sentry asking people to be respectful (which in itself is a disgrace), I would look at someone with their dog there as inappropriate beyond measure. I have two dogs, I love em to death, I would never even consider taking them to Arlington, and I have considered getting them registered as Therapy Dogs so that I could take them on the plane. As you said not the place.
