Super cool,to have the bullet go around the helmet and exit w/o injury! Now that will be a real old Soldier's story.

Thanks for sharing an interesting post SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I am glad that Army Staff Sgt. Thalamus Lewis received the helmet that saved his life in Afghanistan at an April 19, 2016 ceremony. The way it was mounted on a wooden plaque.
It remanded me of the award I received when I PCSed from 1/52 IN in 1984. The departing officers and senior NCOs were presented with a wooden plaque with a track pad from an M113 APC with the bolt sticking through the back of the plant with a nut securing it and the rest of the bot sheered off. There were other infantry reminders on the plaque but the track pad is the most significant aspect.
