I'm doing my best not to be cynical about this. I see a lot of negatives from this change and far fewer positives. I think the most likely outcome is increased costs, injuries, and medical care with a reduction in readiness and Combat lethality. Standards will be lowered once our civilian leadership realizes they're not getting their desired outcome. Its just a matter of when.

It all depends on standards. I am not worried about the billets and garrison. I am concerned about readiness and ability. Will they maintain a standard when the majority of this demographic are not physically capable or will they "modify" a standard to meet whatever politically mandated number was set? I'm not being anything here but rational. The same goes for the males in todays more lethargic and couch-embedded population. I have concern for them too.

Anyone out there remember their days in PLDC, OCS or other courses where 11 series tasks were used to teach leadership techniques? We have all been guilty at one point or another of "humping the gun and AG bags" or the radio because otherwise someone would fall out and the group failed. I don't want to see this become the norm because when (not if) they eventually find themselves in battle, they will have to hump their gear , IMT, and THEN close with the enemy with everyone else. I've carried more than my body weight (thanks to dysentery) and it does take its toll on the body. 11 is not for the faint of heart or weak of spirit.
