well, as a former SAW Gunner, I would appreciate a little less weight (who am I kidding every grunt worries about his weight ) but I for one was never really keen on the 5.56 in the first place, so I am glad to see they are looking to up size the round at least a little, but I was always impressed with the full stopping power of the 60 eating 7.62 like a paratrooper at an all you can eat Chinese buffet, but with real stopping power. I listened to my Nam vets who did NOT like the M-16 at the beginning about the difference in penetration, so I am one who never really had faith in the 5.56 but did the best I could. So, as with many things, we will see what options the Army comes up with.
