The Army's most lethal weapon is the American Soldier - to lower the standard is to lower its lethality.

I understand if you don't make the standards within 90 days you are discharged.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - As stated in the article -- there are exceptions to policy. The pressure exerted to exercise the ETPs and meet goals will try even the most upright of leaders -- the poor leaders don't stand a chance

CSM Chuck Stafford - If you are losing weight, just not fast enough, I believe they will now let you continue.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - As 1SG Russell Scott wrote above^ ; though I'm a 90-10 guy ;-) -- Time is a resource that we can't make more of -- spending leadership time on Soldiers starting below the standards is a hindrance on the organization. Leaders will adapt as they can, but you are as strong as your weakest link...

There was a young Black fellow on Gutfeld who had joined in the Army and was placed in a training program for over weight and unfit recruits. The acronym for the program was FSU. He said it stood for “ fat, stupid and useless “. The fellow, to his credit had remained fit after he left the service.

Worth a carefully monitored trial. As we all know, anyone can loose weight and get fit in a program. Takes a ton of personal drive after the program ends. Long range, society at large needs a change. Is PE still a requirement at your local high schools? 4 day/week PE used to be a requirement at UofA.
Plus, as a land grant school, ROTC was required, 4 days/week for male Freshman and Sophmore years. Same at U of Wash (less ROTC) (my experience)

Many school systems do not require participation in PE or it is not a requirement to graduate CWO4 Terrence Clark!

CWO4 Terrence Clark
Maj Robert Thornton Exactly! But they still make time to teach perversion, racial segregation and anti-Amercanism.
