I've seen some decent shots come from the south, but I've also seen some who were amazingly bad. Like 5/40 bad.

During an Assignment at Fort Gordon with 81st RSC. the Firing orders for the Rifle Range was Divided Northern States and Southern States. The Commanding General was there and witnessed the Soldiers from Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina Royally dusting the Soldiers from New York, Illinois, Detroit Michigan. Although the Soldiers from Maine and the rest of Michigan did fairly well but still got stomped.

Was an armorer on a range where a Kentucky soldier could not hit the target and claimed his M16 was bent. Got permission to fire five standing off hand and put all five on the target. Told the 'cruit he should be ashamed to admit he was from Kentucky.
