This is bittersweet news for the US Army SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. SECDEF Carter announced that women would be able to serve in every position in the military services earlier today. The complete timetable has not been specified yet. From my experience at west point in the 1970s when women first were able to be cadets is that the best laid plans are never complete. the ones who will most likely suffer will be some of the woman who are thrust into MOS positions at the vanguard.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL - as usual you have posted many great questions this evening my friend. Unfortunately I used up my up-votes earlier this evening.

LTC Stephen F. I enjoy your interaction the most, because I learn so much. You are a great advocate of the military and I am proud to have you as a friend. I work during the day and this is the only time I have before I go to bed and get back up at 4:30 weekly.

In the 1970 we had WAC and they wanted to figth interesting that women were in the fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq but never complained. So given we have a volunteer service the women will do okey.

Anyone who believe that women can't fight needs to read this article - the tragic tale of female Kurd fighting on the front lines at the age of 15. Females in my opinion have the right to defend their values and freedoms just like any man does. As well a warrior can take on many shapes - a child, a female, even the old man down the street.
