I watched the video and the guys filming got a laugh out of each of the failed drops. They set the cost at $220 k per vehicle so they must have been more than a basic HMMWV. Hardback, comm or weapons variants maybe. Either comm or weps can get expensive. Don't know what military pays for them now. We worked on 2 improved HMMWV's that the State Dept bought for the FAST Plt at provisional embassy compound in Somalia. They had armor and heavier suspension and I was told the DOS paid $250 k each for them. Can't imagine anyone doing it intentionally and thinking they would get away with it. If they prove he did he's going to be in the red for a long time paying off that dead horse. Not including fines and possible confinement and/or loss of rank. I know zilch about CONOPS of air delivery, but would there have been personnel in the DZ during an operation like this? I couldn't tell from the video, but it looked like there was something out there. If so, it could have gotten real bad and he'd be facing more charges. Glad nobody was hurt and hope they find no fault with him. Something seems amiss with the story IMO but the extent of my expertise is that LAPES ops of tanks are pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing the story.

I'd say a little from column A, and a little from column B. But his pay is going be really short for a long time.

My question - Who else was charged?
Who was the Rigger that signed off on each of these loads?
Has the TO&E and by extension MTO&E changed so drastically that there are now Rigger sections in Cavalry Squadrons and Infantry Battalions? (Skipper, of the 1st Battalion, 91st Cavalry Regiment, was charged in May, Martinez said.)

Anyone have a copy of the investigation report?
