When I was at Ft Hood in the late ‘70s it was a Strac post! 2nd AD and 1st Cav and 3 corps and all the support. But the Army has a tendency to do that. Send all the screw ups to one place until the crap boils over and then they have to come in and clean it up !!!

III Corps HQ, as was much of Hood, was in 1940's era wood buildings during my years there, '71-'75 and '76-'80.

That building wasn't there in 1972. When I got there, they had brand new barracks with 3 guys per room. I looked at present day pictures and looks like those barracks are gone. (1st Cav) We thought this was luxury after being at Fort Polk and Nam. Dang, they even had free cable TV in every room and air conditioning. We rented a black and white TV from the PX for 5$ a month. I recently found pictures of Fort Hood from back in the day.
