It is interesting but in some ways not very practical.
How is medical information and basic uniform information not mission applicable?
And the following definitely has mission impact no matter what the mission is - "All soldiers are to use the "billeting, bathroom, and shower facilities associated with their gender marker" in the DEERS database."
Our society has not gotten to "Starship Troopers" level yet, and if you read and understand the story and understand the movie adaptation, I do not think that any American really wants that type of society. They may think that they do, but then they do not understand what is being depicted.

CW3 Lindsey Muller - Just to clarify, I do agree that gossip and as a general topic of discussion would be unwarranted intrusion. However, what I stated has nothing to with either of those items. What I have a problem with is the insinuation in the article that the training material implies that the information is not normally material to mission applicability, to wit the quoted item that appears to be taken directly from the training material - ""Social interactions and developing friendships with peers are what contribute to a positive work environment," the training states. "Maintain an inclusive environment and do not gossip. In accordance with good order and discipline, DO NOT ASK A COLLEAGUE OR SUBORDINATE FOR THEIR PERSONAL INFORMATION UNLESS IT IS MISSION RELATED." "This includes information about a Soldier's gender identity, sexuality, medical challenges, and/or gender transition," the guidance states."(Capitalization emphasis is mine.) That is pretty damn hard to misinterpret.
What happens when it is misinterpreted as favoritism? What does that do to good order and discipline, then?

CPL (Anonymous) - I hope it never happens. I do not think that you understand my statement in relation to that "type of society." Like I said most do not have that understanding of the "future society ruled by a world government dominated by a military elite." I would suggest that you read the book and then revisit or visit the commentary about the story and human society.

This is actually a very realistic and workable way to deal with this situation. We need to put a human face on it.
[The Pentagon's advice is for commanders to "consider authorizing extended leave," or transfer to the reserves to "allow the Service member to live in their preferred gender and conduct RLE."]
