All that, plus a mile and a half run in full body armor, in under 23 minutes!?!? This is stupid! *laughs in DD214

Running 1.5 miles in body armor is not smart. Yes, everyone can do it once but when you add up the cumulative effect on the body knees, back and hips will pay for this. Also, how are the Reserves suppose to get the body armor? Oh, wait......they will have to perform it during mob training without prior conditioning......overall concept isn't bad but running in body armor is going to get people p let hurt!

And the VA is already full to the max of soldiers with health issues. Adding a 1.5 mile run in full body armor will just make more VA claims.

I see no value in this test or the APFT. Never did. There is no connection to fighting. Also, the Army had insured that there is no connection between the fat boy regulation and the APFT. I watched my boss and I get 290 and 295 respectively on our APFT stylings 1996. We got the little patch for PT excellence. Then we had to be subjected to the indignity of being weighed and taped. Seems to me that if you can get no less than 80 points per event, in all three events, you should be exempt from the fatboy program. The Master Fitness Trainer, a MSG, did not show up for my boss's weigh and tape appt. He waited 30 minutes. She flagged him as overweight. He exploded. She applied to be a warrant officer and I was on the selection board. My boss, a LTC at the time, went on to four stars. She retired a MSG.

Well said sir. Can we fight or just check the box? Philosophical dilemma we are currently going through.
