You come out of the lockerroom before game and at halftime and the people just go crazy, wonderful feeling, excitement for everyone!"
That's Tom Peterson'71 describing excitement of running out on the field for the 1969 Army-Navy Game at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. We saw a great photo he posted on the FB page Crawdad's Countdown to Kickoff where he is standing on the sidelines as a punter for the Army football team. In our talk Tom tells about being a native of Minnesota, his time handling the challenges of West Point, playing Army football and baseball, and studying engineering.
Tom describes his service in the US Army in 1970s Europe, at the height of the Cold War. He tells us about his transition from the Army to civilian life, a move to Florida and entering the home building industry, a booming activity. He also describes the excellent care he has received over the years from the Department of Veterans Affairs, often from their large facility in St. Petersburg.
Thank you to Tom Peterson for your service to our country and describing your career to Sons of the American Legion Radio.
