Honestly did not know insurance companies had their own private firefighting units. Wonder how they divy up resources during fires between themselves and public firefighters.

There are a few hundred private firefighting companies in the country. Mostly, they are hired by state and local governments to supplement resources as needed. Shared resources reduce the cost. Many are itinerant, moving to where the work is. Insurance companies hire some for both prevention and suppression work.
