I've always described a firearm safety as "A mechanical device that can fail" The only real safety I between your ears.

And of course all of the hyperventilating about this completely misses the point the only contract had a standard for drop testing the standard was Matt not just with lab guns but with production guns
If the army or some other law-enforcement Dept. wanted a different test than contract said to build again the meat that test they don't want it meets the test that was asked for what the heck else can you ask from the manufacture
