I personally believe Hirohito should had been put on trial and executed. Under his reign, the world was dragged into a World War in the Pacific. I had a (Grade School Gym Teacher) in the 1960’s that endured his horror as a Bataan Death March survivor and POW. He was shot out twice by an American Submarine on a POW Ship and survived that. The Japanese transferred him to Japan from the Philippines to work as slave labor in the Japanese coal mines. His name was a Max West. He retired a Chief Petty Officer after serving 21 years in the U.S. Navy 1939 - 1960. He served 4 years of that Naval Service beaten, tortured, starved and deprived as an American POW. When he came home in 1945, my family said he looked like he only weighed 90 pounds. He never talked about his POW experience until he retired from teaching school.
