The issue with National Guard re-enlistment bonuses extends far beyond California. No surprise there. But, soldiers who accepted these bonuses as part of their contracts did so in good faith. They should not be penalized for errors on the part of the Government. . . The National Guard Bureau shouldn't stop with the audit of a small sample in only four additional states. It should audit ALL re-enlistment contracts that involved bonuses in ALL 50 states. Recoupment efforts against the soldiers involved should cease immediately.

This is where the State AG's and TAGs were over stepping their authority...

To make this right, those soldiers who had money recouped should be paid back. . . Whenever we owe the Government, they are quick to collect it with interest and penalties from any source - income tax refunds, military pay, Social Security, etc. However, when they owe us, they take their time about paying it and they only pay the principal.
