SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL We old-timers cringe at the ongoing personnel changes that must occur in our military system.
Praise be that our ldrshp is listening! My granddaddy got out of the Army because it had gone to Hell in a hand basket!
The military adapts, survives and serves the Nation as the Nation changes. That is the duty description!

Wow is all I can say to that SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
When I was graduating cadet in May 1980 a couple went on to unique assignments such as graduate program at Oxford. the vast majority of us went on to our initial officer course and follow-on unit assignments. back then we all received General Engineering Bachelor of Science degrees. For decades graduating service academy cadets have been able to select a major. I suppose that change may be largely responsible for a change in attitude and expectations.

LTC Stephen F. this is a changing of the guard in my opinion. With internships and business opportunities lurking after the military service, not a bad option I suppose.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL - I value your opinions my friend.
In general there have been lucrative business opportunities as post service opportunities for service academy graduates for over 100 years.
I expect that the desire to serve the nation through selfless service ebbs and flows in each generation. There were many of us who wanted to serve as long as we could be productive and support those we led. There have always been those who for a variety of reasons left the military as soon as their obligations were fulfilled.
