The day Tillman died, we lost a great patriot, scholar, person, and athlete. He was destined to become more than a great football player. Greatness was in his DNA.
Many of our top athletes fought in WWII. Texas A&M was a military university and had championship caliber football teams during WWII. However many enlisted or received commissions and served in WWII. The university was brimming with patriotism.
