I find it peculiar that GEN Mcchrystal isn't mentioned in this article, even though his pioneering work with TF17 and idea of using 'a network to defeat a network' was the major paradigm shift that caused pretty much all the intelligence to targeting in both Iraq and Afghanistan to move to this model. LTG(R) Michael Flynn, when he was a COL, was the guy who proved the concept of interagency intelligence meshing and used it to show that obtaining intel on an objective could realistically drive additional operations almost immediately if the right combination of people had access to it and were able to analyze and redistribute said intel to the guys operating on the ground.
