Baptist Army Chaplain Faces Punishment for Religious Beliefs | Todd Starnes

Of course my response is based only on the information presented, and from what I know about consequences for religious leaders. Not adhering to his religious standards may suspend his religious practices. If he’s suspended and isn’t recognized by his church/religion as a chaplain, how would he be able to maintain his position in the military? The military enlists specialty branches that must adhere to both their specialty and the military. Without one or the other, the Soldier wouldn’t be able to maintain their position. I don’t think he should be reprimanded. An alternate resource could have been provided to meet the couple’s goals. I also don’t think anyone should be punished for stating their religious beliefs. If he was imposing his beliefs on the couple or ridiculing them for theirs, his actions would be punishable. Denying someone to simply express their beliefs contradicts the concept of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell which no longer exists.

I would never use Todd Starnes as a source for anything. He is so completely inflammatory in everything he writes. It's purely opinion pieces that he writes for FoxNews.

Yeah, he’s in trouble. Strong Bonds is a nondenominational (tending to secular) “canned” program that’s open to all married Soldiers, regardless of religious preference or lack thereof. It’s facilitated by Chaplains, but the “flavor” is immaterial.
