Miltiades flanking and out thinking the Persians was a great victory. While the Spartans showed up a day late for the battle the timing of the Greek's attack was spot on as the Persian's Cav went sailing that day. Intel, speed to engage, and strategy (out flanking) makes this a great battle to study.
Miltiades as well out foxed the Persians in high tailing to Athens after the battle to meet the Persians. When they saw the Greeks were waiting for them they scuttled their plans and went home. The numbers were impressive as well it was like 160 to 6000 - for a mainly civilian force these guys knew how to fight.
