Excellent article. I'm printing that off for my smart book. I do wonder how Lawyers view this data. I have heard if you make mods to your firearm that a prosecutor can/could/would use that as negative information about you and your state of mind. I would think that carrying the most effective ammunition in your carry weapon could be turned against you.

Smart Thor Merich, below I have added a url regarding using handloads foe self defense. There are many articles on the subject but this one comes from a well respected trainer and LEO. Whether you believe what I said is up to you. Personally, I handloads for the range but carry factory ammo.

Maj Robert Thornton - Personally, I only use factory ammo for my "work" and use handloads for the range also. Its just good practice. While I will not argue with the esteemed Massad Ayoob, his example doesn't tell me the actual circumstances of the shooting. I suspect that there were other factors that made that particular shooting an issue besides the hand loads.

Maj Robert Thornton - The DA's job is to get convictions. Anything they can throw at a jury to help them build a case they will use. If a lightweight trigger, and hand loaded ammo can be used to convince a jury that a person was looking to kill, they will use it. Whether the jury accepts it or not is another matter.
