It's not passed yet. It was the infrastructure bill that was passed. This is a different bill they are trying to pass now. Congress is still negotiating many points in the bill to get it passed.... the Republicans want Joe to keep Trumps tax plan which I believe would be a terrible way forward. We need the new tax plan to pay for the spending bill. Anyway, we need to get one more Democrat on board to get the bill passed, the woman, Seminole, that ain't right, I can't remember her name, but her vote is holding it up.

PFC David Foster this is what people do not understand. If you raise corporate taxes and tax the rich like the Democrats want, the middle class will pay for it. Here it goes, you raise their taxes, they raise the cost of the products to cover the additional costs. They will not let this tax hurt their bottom line. And we the average American will pay for it.

PFC David Foster - Kirsten Sinema.
What the Republicans want is completely irrelevant. The Democrats are passing this without a single Republican vote - intentionally. They aren't even talking to Republicans about what is in it. Democrats have decided "screw half what half the country wants, we get to decide." Which, I mean, they have the power, so they have that authority.
But there is a difference between "can" and "should."
If the Democrats had been working to try and pass a bipartisan bill, and going back and forth at it for months, and just finding the Republicans unwilling to work, yeah, sure, maybe. But at the VERY first "we don't like what you have there," Democrats IMMEDIATELY said "screw you, we don't need you, anyway."
Trying to even discuss Republicans in light of this bill is off base.

I'd have to look into this further... I just have a simple accounting degree and this seems to me to be the thing Joe was talking about to help single parents get back to work. I don't know how it would help an illegal immigrant who doesn't have a social security number and doesn't earn any wages or pay any taxes to get a tax credit on... It just doesn't make sense, and it is Fox news, so I wouldn't believe a word of it.

When you have more tax credits than you have tax liabilities, you get a refund.
Every year, when you submit your taxes, this is what you are doing.... adding up your credits (mostly in the form of taxes actually paid, but also things like EITC) and then subtracting your liability - which is usually reduced by deductions, including things like SALT, charitable giving, and mortgage insurance and interest.
By giving folks a tax credit, it is, essentially, saying they have paid in more taxes, and therefore deserve a bigger refund.

How is an unaccompanied minor going to benefit from this? They can't file taxes because they are minor. And Manchin, whose state probably has the highest per capita on government assistance, needs to go ahead and admit he's a republican.

SrA John Monette You assume, based on absolutely no evidence, they will not file.
And if the guardians of the child - who *may* (not likely, but possible) also be here illegally - file, why should the taxpayer be on the hook TO SUPPORT CRIME? The child is here ILLEGALLY.

SFC Casey O'Mally - If the guardians are filing, then they are also paying taxes. How is that "supporting crime"?

SrA John Monette -
A) you do not have to pay taxes to file a tax return
B) How dense do you have to be. I already laid it out. The child is here illegally. As in the only reason the child is here is because crimes were committed. And since the crimes were committed, now we are being asked to pay tax dollars to support the results of the crime. That is how it is supporting crime.

A "grown" man throwing insults around. Can nobody on the right have a discussion without resorting to insults?
We are already paying tax dollars to "support the results" of crimes. How do you think jails and prisons are run?
