No offense to Bill but instead of giving this money to states, experts who create studies etc, maybe he should let the teachers have access to the funds, let the teachers write in for funding of projects and expenses. I taught for 9 years and no telling how much I spent out of my own pocket for my classroom.

In the State of Kentucky there is not teachers union, belonged to the NEA one year and dropped them.

I can say this, in my experience allot of these so called experts have never been in an actual classroom. I worked on two masters degrees and half my professors never taught school. They stayed in college got all their doctorates etc and became professors.

Kudos to him for seeing the state of our education system and trying to help. I'm not sure it will help, however, until there is some new thinking by "educational experts" in states, and I don't believe money changes that.

It does when the money influences and retains new ‘experts’...
What befuddles me is why we are always lagging YEARS behind? We try new ‘cutting edge’ educational methods that have been tried & discarded elsewhere years ago...

Sgt Wayne Wood - Agree. I don't think experts necessarily change thinking though. In fact, I believe that's one thing we aren't teaching kids--how to think. I would rather see them learn that than what to think.
