I have absolutely no problem with a wealthy individual fiancing the military in any way. The decision to use the military was political as it is in every instance yet someone stepped up and paid for the cost or the decision to allow the Guard to reserve its budget for other instances that it might be needed in, such as natural disasters and such. Wish it happened more.

Not optimal to have private funding for any national defense. I agree that States have the right to step in if the Federal government fails to do the job; however, it should be state funding, not private funds. Of course the Billionaire could have given the funding to the state and then the state paid for it.
