Most of moder atomic physics has been expementsly verified and much of has been proven for a very long time. It might look like it is all extrapolation but that is because you have not taken a good look. The last ex vdentiary missing peace of the Standard model" of physics dell into place a few years ago, as did the last proof needed of General Relativity.
