Personally I am glad that the Punisher has evolved to become a part of the military culture. Punisher was the only comic I really read on what could be called a regular basis when I was younger.

Me being a comic book nerd, when I saw the Punisher skulls I instantly knew of its etiology. Frank Castle of the Marvel Comic Universe (MCU) and in the remake of Daredevil was a Vietnam vet/Iraq war vet, respectively. That and the skulls and being acknowledged as "Punisher XXX" is bad ass which appeals to many combat arms types, present company included
