Wait a second, found internationally... I thought the FBI handled domestic investigations, and the CIA handled international? Outside of jurisdiction a little? Maybe we don't need both agencies?
Way to use taxpayer dollars for something that benefits all citizens, like shutting down human trafficking, or breaking up the drug cartels.

I remember in Iraq, back in '09, in Erbil, seeing some FBI dudes up there working with our SOF guys...I think the FBI just goes pretty much anywhere. I also remember hearing about the FBI working with the DEA...in Afghanistan!

Yes the FBI was in contact a lot - this started back in 2003 in A'stan. In 2005, all of the FBI's HRT members in Iraq began to work under JSOC. HRT's saw a lot of action but things got a little fuzzy - your missions or our mission - in 2010 when an agent was wounded in the Logar province. These guys were/are triained by SFOD-D and Seals and seems that JSOC likes the HRT's. The FBI drew down in 2010 despite pleas from JSOC to stay. There was a lot of concern with FBI agents ROE's and legal concerns. However up around Erbil, especially around the airport, no telling who that was.

For nearly seven decades, the FBI has stationed special agents and other personnel overseas to help protect Americans back home by building relationships with principal law enforcement, intelligence, and security services around the globe that help ensure a prompt and continuous exchange of information.

The big thing would be the cost of finding it as it was found internationally. Hmm wonder when they're going to go looking for my old slippers that disappeared in Iraq?
