Everyone always talks about how terribly harsh the Brest-Litovsk Treaty was on the Russians, yet it just moved the Russian boundaries in Europe back to where they are today. None of Russia was taken, just Belorussia, the Baltic States, Finland, and the Ukraine. All in all Russia was much better off after Brest-Litovsk than they are today because they still retained the three Caucasus republics and the four -stans in Central Asia.

Always amazes me how people who do not understand maps believe Brest-Litovsk was an unfair treaty. It merely stripped away the fruits of Tsarist imperialism.
