I thought the EU was a bad idea from the get go, and also thought it was just to level the economic playing field making it easier for European nations to compete in a larger market place. However it seems the countries that joined it did so at the expense of much of their sovereignty. Open borders, judicial interference, tax and trade imbalances... just seems like a raw deal on many levels.
