Well, that answers one question. Solid foods were another story. Adults chewed the food until it was a proper consistency for the young child and then spit it into their mouths. It's a practice that continued until a few decades ago. A cousin described it to me having witnessed our grandmother feeding my brother in this manner. (I'm still trying to decide if I should tell him)

I always laugh when I find someone who eschews alcohol for religious reasons. If you believe that God created all, then you must believe that he created alcohol as well. Airborne yeast collects on the skins of grapes as they grow and if one falls to the ground and is stepped on, by even a passing animal, the pool of juice will immediately beginning fermenting. Thus, you have accidental wine. Or, is it an accident?
