The 50-cal M2 machine gun is an awesome weaponSFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
Whether tripod mounted or vehicular mounted the 50 cal has been an awesome weapon to fire. I have been on the receiving end during a training-accident or two and am glad I was not hit - just the whirring past as the rounds flew by :-)
The Gatling gun, the 30 cal and the M-60 7.62 all had their places; but, when properly maintained and with proper head-space and timing the 50 cal is truly an awesome and accurate weapon.
Many sniper rifles have been single-shot 50 cal which gives an indication of the durability and potential impact of this weapon :-)
