Interesting vessels. Kinda fit between the LCU and the old LST's. Been around for ten years or so. For whatever reason they've been assigned to USNS. Same range as the LCUs, more troop and crew capacity. Curious how they get across the big bitter. (Nothing sadder than an old has-been hanging around pier 2, San Diego NavSta)
