Have to agree with the article.....Shooting USA makes the same recommendations....I have Mossbergs, upstairs and down....hell, if you just chamber a round, most two legged predators will split.....

Mine is loaded with 00 Buckshot. Where I would employ it for home defense is a very short distance to the door. There aren't very many pellets in the shell with 00, but the impact is more of a decisive way to end the encounter. I actually used that system last December to secure my home from a home invasion. the individual in question stopped dead in his tracks, evaluated his indefensible position, and seemed to listen closely when he was told it was loaded with 00 Buck. Very carefully, making no aggressive move, he left and never came back per his instructions. I don't know if birdshot would have been as effective in that conversation otherwise.
