It would be nice if these geniuses would learn firearms terminology before they write about firearms. That said, all one has to do is look at the statistics regarding police shootings. It is definitely not a one shot one hit ratio. There also may be more than one attacker. Essentially this letter writer thinks that it is better that criminals are better armed than the ordinary civilian. No thanks.
