“Beauty is truth, truth beauty,” – that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.

Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on July 14, 1811 immensely talented poet George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, returned to England, after touring Europe and the Near East for two years. His travels inspire his first highly successful work, Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage (1812). The poem brings him almost instant acclaim in England, and Byron’s taste, manners, and fashion all become widely imitated. “I awoke one morning and found myself famous,” he says.
It is remarkable that he toured Europe during the Napoleonic wars.
