TSgt Joe C. California has made giant strides in reducing air pollution.

I recall installing one of the first rudimentary smog control devices on a car’s manifold in ?1965. Smog devices have been vastly improved and in some situations, are covered under warranties extended by the Smog regulations.

In 1958, driving on the freeway under Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles; my eyes wre burning so badly that I pulled over and changed seats so my wife could drive.

The mandates of the Quality Management District are a nuisance to deal with. Those same rules have noticeably improved our air quality in my lifetime.

California has perhps ten times as many vehicles as in 1960, still, our air is cleaner!
