I love the word "myriad". It was the Roman "10,000". They believed there wasn't a need for a larger unit of measure.

I'd be all for having a gasoline tax that went solely to road construction and maintenance. It would essentially be a user fee. For me, though, the thing about this article, vis-à-vis the state of California, is the use of the term "transportation project." Does that include such things as the high-speed rail abomination?

No, it means providing free services and benefits to illegal aliens (that's what they did with the previous gas taxes and auto registration fees that were supposed to be used to repair infrastructure, repair dams, fill potholes, etc. These new increases were justified on the basis of the poor condition of roads, etc., but the same legislation that increased taxes and fees included additional spending on things that have nothing to do with infrastructure. that is social benefits for illegal aliens)

You will buy an electric car, they don’t wear out the roads. Wait for it, mileage based tax for electrics and hybrids.

You must not have read the article. Owners of electric cars will have to pay a $100 surcharge each year to compensate the state for the gas taxes they won't be paying.

Actually, I tried to find the amount of your tax but some strange advertisements came up and I left. Just tried again, you are right. Tennessee has similar fuel taxes.

CPT Jack Durish - From a maintaining-the-roads perspective, it makes sense. But the eco-nuts in California were supposed to be rewarding people for making the switch from CO2-belching gas guzzlers to polar-bear-friendly electric vehicles. This doesn't sound like a reward to me, this sounds like a cash grab.
