Have any adults considered the implications? How far? CA currency? CA National Guard becomes the (only) CA Defense Force? Would CA bear the cost of building foreign embassies? Trade/Immigration/UN membership/water rights/highways/dams/education/energy/disaster relief/the arts...all forms of Federal spending, grants and support would end. Or are they just nuts?

I am all for their experiment in the deep dive to socialism. Mr. Trump should come out today and congratulate them on their resolve and immediately stop all Federal funding. The Democrats would never allow this to happen with the loss of their electoral votes. They need California or they will have to go into overdrive on the voter corruption scale.

What about portions of CA that might not want this?

If this happens, be sure you move east quickly. We should be done with the southern border and will then have to start west for phase two.

If there were any doubt remaining after that, late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia set it to rest more than a century later with his response to a letter from a screenwriter in 2006 asking if there is a legal basis for secession.

“The answer is clear,” Scalia wrote. “If there was any constitutional issue resolved by the Civil War, it is that there is no right to secede. (Hence, in the Pledge of Allegiance, 'one Nation, indivisible.')”

Bottom line: While Brexit may have stirred the secessionist pot, a similar Texit would not be legal. Texas has a unique right among states to split itself into five states but not to secede from the United States of America.
