Hopefully, if it hasn't already, Southern California has placed a sunset provision on wood shingle roofs. Dallas and it's Northen suburbs had similar issues with wood shingle roofs and their high combustibility when they were dried out (like a dried out Christmas tree). We got rid of them all and now when one house burns the whole block does not burn with it........the fire can be more easily contained to one house. I realize that is not the whole issue with the house destruction over there. Some have also let the growth too close to their houses to "experience nature" as well. Still others are innocent of both transgressions and it's just the fires are so hot their home has no chance. However for the other two items I mentioned...........really hope California takes action on them if it has not already.

We need these. We need a whole lot of them. They can carry as much water as a C-130, but can refill its tanks in about 15 seconds by skimming the water without landing. Get a bunch of these going in a rotation, and you could have planeloads of water being dumped on a fire every few minutes.

Too simple of an idea, they want to make it hard.
