That article made my head hurt... In other words, I don't see how this can work.

It didn't made my head hurt ... it just make no sense. This is a stupid financial idea and actually promote "communistic" style ownership. Every owner will "abuse" the car knowing that he/she will only pay 1/5 or 1/10 of the value. This is communism in a miniature scale.

But then, the car company actually can sell higher price and higher cost of services too.

... wait ... it click ... ... something just click in me ... I think I know the reason why this move ... I will come back for this later ... I need to research.

I just don't like the idea, period. Say you and I are "fractional owners" of the same car. Is it like a time share where I have a time period in which it is exclusively mine to use? But what if I need a car when it's your turn to use it? Yeah, I just don't like this idea. Too many "what ifs."

PO1 John Miller - !!! after a whole weekend ... the click I got is ... public owned transportation system!!! That is their final goal.

Think about it, with fully automatic driving cars. Such "fractional owners" option is open for GOVERNMENTs everywhere in US to buy taxpayer owned public cars. Everyone no longer own any car for themselves. So everywhere will be "cars depot" and anyone can call for a car at anytime. Like some of the sci-fi movie we watched.

man ... this is very weird ...I still don't like it ...but ... I think this is the tiles of future that we will need to brace for ...
