Can we build AI without losing control over it? | Sam Harris

Or are we just building it?

I was unable to find my article, but will attempt to reconstruct the jist of it.
In an attempt to make some kind of sense of a long string of illogical and seemly counter productive moves by our govt. The answer is always the simplest when all is stripped away and looked at logically, regardless of how farfetched and unbelievable. When looking at the absolutely crazy shit this past administration has been doing the only conclusion that I can come up with is:

We are either right on the brink of, or have already created AI and are on the brink of losing control of it. This is scary enough to set up conditions for the use of worldwide EMP strikes to kill it. Those strikes would ultimately lead to the slow death of about 80% of the modern worlds population by pushing our society back to the 1800s at least. This is a condition that few are prepared to survive, but given the option of the total extinction of the human race, is probably the only logical one.

In this light, many if not all of the seriously insane moves by world govts. start to make sense.....remember when all else is eliminated the truth no matter how bizarre or unbelievable is revealed.

You may find my thoughts on this crazy, but if you look deeper may find that you have a real fear of looking at the truth of this possibility. It is one that no one should like to contemplate.....the survival of the human race in a war that moves as fast as an electron..
