I avoid showers during thunderstorms. I took care of an individual who suffered significant burns while in the field during a thunderstorm. During the storm they retreated to a large tent. The lightening hit the center pole, traveled down the pole, the pole was wet, the l electricity went into the individuals hand and out the foot. One of the houses we lived in a tree was truck by lightning, the electrical current traveled up a plastic water pipe that blew out in the laundry room causing water damage.
