Air Force officials are accepting applications for the Career Intermission Program through Sept. 12 from active-duty and career status active Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Airmen.

How do you feel about it? I think it'll give certain people who want to stay in, but are facing hardships outside of the military the chance to focus on them and come back brand new, per say.

It's a good program for those that choose to use it. Guaranteed job when you get back on duty. Whoever uses this has to keep in mind that for however long they are on IRR, once they return, they have to serve 2 months for every month they use the program.

I read that and I think it's a good trade off for them allowing you to essentially become a civilian for a period of time. Are you still being paid while using the program? The article didn't state that.

They get paid 1/15th of basic pay; retain full medical and dental ins.
