What is complete BS is they are taking away 6 weeks of maternity leave for Navy!!! Decreasing us from 18 to 12. A big reason my husband and I decided to start trying for a 2nd baby was the improved maternity leave, and now they're taking it away. 6 weeks 3 years ago just wasn't enough. 18 seems reasonable, so they shouldn't be able to scale Navy back just to make all services the same! Have to pray I'm already newly pregnant or will be soon before they screw us out of the 18 weeks we were given only 8 months ago.

18 weeks paid leave plus you are still earning regular leave and pay check with full benefits is more generous than the family and medical leave act, you can request to get out and come back in. The law says an employer has to give you twelve weeks unpaid leave. Tax payers shouldn't cover your salary, housing and medical expenses for that long, if you aren't working. You really need to get out, you don't seem to want to serve; you seem to want to have children and have Navy pay you for not working, that's not service to your country, that is welfare. Every time you take leave, everyone in your unit has to do more because the work has to get done, that mean some else is spending more time away from their family because you want more time with yours. Sorry to hear that selfless service is not a Navy value.
