On the surface this sounds both political and socioeconomically based. My professional opinion from taking care of COVID-19 patientsif it counts for anything, healthcare workers and those sixty and above should be at the front of the line

Vaccinating healthcare workers and the elderly first was part of the original plan wasn't it?

COL (Join to see) - Sir, the entire COVID thing has been a mess and to ignore outside influence to distribution would be foolish. It has always been the plan to provide for healthcare workers and elderly so why would they need an emergent meeting to discuss?

COL (Join to see) - Here is why I have concern Sir, https://www.cnn.com/videos/health/2020/11/28/coronavirus-vaccine-availability-frontline-essential-workers-gounder-sot-nr-vpx.cnn

Grocery checkout counters who generally are less than 50 get it before my 76yo Father? Right now my Father is the one going out doing all the shopping for him and my Mother.

MAJ Byron Oyler hey thanks for bringing this to my attention. So per your scenario wouldn’t your father be safer being attended to by a vaccinated grocery clerk or whoever who is exposed to literally 100’s per day? Remember the vaccine isn’t just to protect the worker it’s to protect others like our parents. And she didn’t say elderly aren’t getting it. The clip ended. Do you have the full interview?
Also there was no specific mention that grocery workers will get before the elderly. She just listed 2 of the groups they are considering (Healthcare workers and frontline essential workers) In a 3 minute snip from one of the dozen COVID advisory members, and in no particular order.
I hear your concern but I don’t see this as political. Let’s not jump to conclusions. Are grocery people a higher value for politicians than the elderly? I doubt it.
Let’s give it a chance to be fully vetted and announced. If it doesn’t pass the sniff test I’m sure plenty will cry foul. We can’t base info on these type of abbreviated sources. Unless you have additional info and if so please Let me know if you have something else suggesting a political process in these decisions because I’m not quite seeing it. Thanks

Healthcare workers and the most at risk elderly were on the original list to receive the vaccine first.
