Mr. Barkley is a very wise man. I wish that we had more public figures that are as honest and forthright.

they only come down when the city elected officials vote to take them down. So Charles is right--if the right wingers would just let them come down, as the elected officials determined (as our democracy calls for) then it would be no big deal. But it's the white supremacists streaming in from all over to fight it that is making it a big deal. If the right would quit interfering with the process, no one would have to waste any time on it.

Col Joseph Lenertz
Huh? I saw videos of two coming down by gangs of people with ropes...no city officials involved. And Duke university officials are also not elected...so I don't know why you say "...only when the city elected officials..."?

Why are the liberals trying to destroy artist works solely because they oppose what they believe the subject of the artwork supported?
Conservatives are no better when they question other statues and monuments. Yes, it is strange that Seattle has a statue of Lenin. Guess what? I. Don't. Care. It's a statue. It is not offensive.
Question: Whose life has improved as a result of statues being removed?
